Saffron is a spice obtained from the stigmas of a flower called CROCUS SATIVUS LINNAEUS, known as the Saffron Rose.
The CROCUS SATIVUS LINNAEUS is a plant from the iridacae family characterised by having a lilac flower, thus highlighting the red of the stigmas and the yellow of the stamens.
This plant reproduces using bulbs as it is a sterile flower.
Each flower has three saffron stigmas, or threads, which are joined at the base by the style.
